State lawmakers hold roundtable talks with vets
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – State lawmakers want to make sure veterans are taken care of next legislative session.
State Representative James Beverly and other leaders across the state held roundtable discussions with vets to talk about some of the issues they’re having, from healthcare benefits to finding a job.
Beverly says both sides of the aisle would want to help.
“I think there’s not a veteran’s issue that we can raise that somebody’s going to say no on. So what we want to do though is make sure that we’re applying pressure points to places where veterans can actually benefit from what we’re doing,” Beverly said.
The state’s House Democrats are looking to take the information from the roundtables to file legislation centered around the military leading up to next year’s general assembly.
