Spring Football Heats Up in Middle Georgia With Four-Team Jamboree in Warner Robins
Four Middle Georgia Football Squads Got Together at McConnell-Talbert Stadium Wednesday Night for a Spring Football Showcase

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Spring football is in full swing across Middle Georgia, and Thursday night brought a major showcase as four local high school teams took the field at McConnell-Talbert Stadium — “The Mac” — in Warner Robins.
The event featured game-speed drills and matchups between the Northeast Raiders, Perry Panthers, Howard Huskies, and host Warner Robins Demons, offering fans an early look at what’s to come for the 2025 season. A strong crowd turned out to support the squads, many of whom featured familiar faces — and some in new roles — as they prepare for the fall.
The Northeast Raiders, led by Jeremy Wiggins Sr., are aiming to make another deep postseason run. Wiggins, entering his eighth season as head coach and honored as Coach of the Year by several outlets last year, has his sights set on returning to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the GHSA Class A Division I state championship.
The Perry Panthers are undergoing a rebuild after graduating 34 seniors. Head coach Kevin Smith, now in his ninth season, used Thursday’s action to evaluate depth and talent behind his starters. Perry is chasing its sixth straight region title and stands just one win shy of reaching a .500 all-time program record. The Panthers currently hold a 340-341 record dating back to the school’s football debut in 1954.
The Howard Huskies, coached by Trey Porter in his second year, are hoping to rebound after a 4-6 finish in 2024. The team hasn’t posted a winning season since going 6-4 in 2022 and is searching for consistency and playmakers to get back on track.
Hosting the action were the Warner Robins Demons, entering their third season under head coach Shane Sams. After a 7-4 finish and early playoff exit last year, the Demons are eyeing a return to championship form. They last captured the region title in 2023 and are focused on reclaiming their status as one of Georgia’s powerhouse programs.
The 2025 regular season officially kicks off Friday, August 15.
