Sports Hall Seeks New Marketing Image

Within weeks ownership of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame could finally be out of the State’s hands.

NewTown Macon CEO, Mike Ford, says he expects Governor Nathan Deal to sign ownership over within two weeks. Ford says once that happens revamping the hall’s image will be underway.

“One of the main things we’ll do right of the front is try to make the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame the destination for meetings, weddings,…business meetings. We want to accommodate anybody that wants a meeting that has a sports mind,” says Ford.

The authority board also plans to launch a statewide fund raising campaign. Board Chairman, Paul Holmes, says,”We’re going to try and engage the entire state in this project. We’ll be reaching out to corporate citizens to make sure we get support for this hall throughout the state not just here in Macon.”

Authority board members are hoping to have Governor Nathan Deal come down and symbolically sign over the documents in ceremony after the transfer is finalized.
