Southwest Patriots aiming to better a 3-7 mark from last season

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 2015 will be the beginning of Joe Dupree’s third season as head coach of the Southwest Patriots. Despite only winning three games all of last year, and after having a significant improvement from a win-less season prior, Coach Dupree says he won’t be satisfied until his team can come away with a regional, or even a state, championship.

In order to improve on that 3-7 record, the Patriots will need to better their offensive totals which saw them only score 15 points a game in 2014. Southwest’s quarterback position is open with several solid candidates vying for the spot, including senior Justin Slocum and his brother Jordan, as well as junior Dallis Hollingshed. They will also be returning wide receivers Ja’Quavious Solomon and Markese Burton.

The offense isn’t the only concern for Coach Dupree, as the defense gave up 37 points a game. He says his team will need to rally around his defensive anchor, DE Nahum Williams.

The first game for the Patriots will be at home on August 28th, versus Northeast.
