Southern Perfection Fire Ruled “Undetermined”

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Byron Fire Department and State Fire Marshals ruled the Southern Perfection Fire as undetermined according to a news release.

The release goes on to say Byron Fire Chief JD Mosby says “It is possible paint filters may have spontaneously combusted.”

The fire, occurring early in May, caused an estimated $1.5 million in losses. Firefighters from Byron, Peach, and Crawford counties responded to the blaze.

Nearly 100 firefighters fought the blaze, three were injured.

An insurance company declared the building a “total loss.” Demolition operations are on the building has started with plans to rebuild the plant.
