Son accused of killing mother in Dooly County
VIENNA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Murders aren’t only on the rise in Macon, but also in Dooly County. GBI Special Agent In Charge J.T. Ricketson says Dooly County has seen more murders since January, than they have in decades.
Many of us are using these next few days to figure out how we are celebrating our moms for Mother’s Day. But for one Vienna family, one son is in jail and his mother, dead.
“My agents were on the scene all through the night, and in through this morning,” Ricketson said.
According to Ricketson, Vienna Police were called to a home in the 300-block of N. 5th Street at about 10 a.m. Thursday. In regards to a domestic dispute between a mom and son.
“Later yesterday evening around 10:20, they were called back out a second time for the same thing,” he said.
Ricketson says officers stayed about 20 minutes to make sure everything calmed down. Not even an hour later, officers were dispatched to the home a third time about shots fired.
“The son actually met the officers outside of the residence. They walked up to him. They saw the son actually had a gun shot wound to his left upper arm area,” Ricketson said.
Officers went inside the home and found 42-year-old Balinda Woodson with multiple gunshot wounds and a stab wound. Ricketson says she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Last night, police arrested Woodson’s son, 20-year-old Tony Adams Jr. for her murder.
The cause of the dispute is still unknown.
“At some point, the son was doing something with a window and he broke the window, but again, I don’t know the context of the arguing that was going on yesterday,” Ricketson said.
Adams Jr. is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of malice murder, and one count of felony murder.
This investigation is still on-going. Anyone with information can call the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office at 229-645-0930.
