Snapchat Hackers Hit Middle Georgia
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Recently, the app Snapchat was hacked, and millions of phone numbers and usernames were released.
More than 4 million victims were affected. Nearly 1,400 of those people were Middle Georgians.
However, President of Quality Computer Systems, Brad Spiegel, believes users have nothing to worry about.
“Snapchat is a very young age group to begin with… Most people are going to have that tied to a cell phone, not a land line. Being able to search a cell phone to an address is much more difficult than searching a land line to address.”
The app uses a “Find Friends” feature, which allows users to add their cell number to easily find other chatters.
So, what can the hackers do with the cell phone numbers they leaked?
“With a cell phone they can’t get a whole lot unless they start paying some of these security firms to find information out,” says Spiegel.
Spiegel noted switching up your password about twice year will limit you from being a target for hackers.
