More small businesses are opening up in Macon; a trend that’s happening around the country. According to the National Federation of Independent Businesses, it’s because owners confidence is at the highest it has been in 3 years.
Gregory Wade and his three sons opened 3 Brothers Cheesecake & Sweets this past weekend. Wade says, the state of the economy doesn’t worry him, “I’m not really sure what way the economy is headed, but I’m just confident in our product.”
Wade started making cheesecakes after he lost his job as a source of income, and now his business is already taking off. He says business is doing well.
3 Brothers Cheesecakes & Sweets is not alone, so far this year 133 new businesses have applied for licenses in Macon.
Element Night Club, is one of them. Element is getting ready to open its doors next week. Its manager, Chris Bordelon, says she is not worried about the economy either. ” The night life in Macon is still strong,” says Bordelon.
According to NewTown Macon, the trend is a reality in Macon. “For the past several months we’ve seen an increase in people that are interested in opening businesses downtown and learning information about opening businesses,” says Kris Hattaway with NewTown Macon.
