Small Business Saturday highlights longtime Macon shops
Rumor Boutique and Carol’s Linens prepare for Small Business Saturday in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Macon shops are getting ready for Small Business Saturday, a nationwide day encouraging people to support local stores as they head into the holiday season.
Rumor Boutique has been part of the community for 20 years. Owner Ashley Johnson says they’ve participated in Small Business Saturday since the event began.
“It’s a fun way just to kind of reach out to the community, give a good deal, and hopefully they’ll come and shop local and support local small businesses,” Johnson said.
Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 and has been co-sponsored by the Small Business Administration since 2011. The SBA encourages people to support small businesses during the busy holiday period.
Across the Prado, Carol’s Linens is also preparing for the weekend. The shop has been in business for 48 years, including 13 at its current location.
Owner Carol Kaplan says the day is a chance to highlight the importance of local support.
“Small Business Saturday is all about community. So we have a day focused on gratitude and connection to our community,” Kaplan said.
Small Business Saturday is November 29. Both owners say every purchase helps support the businesses that have served Macon for years.
