Shoppers Hit the Stores for After Christmas Sales
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Shoppers were still crowding into stores in search of bargains on the day after Christmas.
But the people at Best Buy in Macon braced themselves, because most of the store’s merchandise is on sale. Of course, there were some items more popular than others.
“Our number one sellers this year was Playstation 4’s and XBOX Ones,” says Monic Harrish, a Best Buy Support Sales Manager. “We also sold a lot of cell phones too, and the Galaxy X Threes were really popular as well.”
Best Buy did run out of a few items, such as Galaxy Tablets and Ipad Minis, butut as soon as the shelves cleared of those items, store employees immediately went into action restocking them.
Another item that flew off the shelves was flatscreen televisions.
“Samsung 32-inch flatscreens are really popular and a lot of 60 inches are too, this year,” adds Harrish.
Jerry Dempsey was among the crowd of early Best Buy shoppers. He says they got a great deal on a new laptop.
“I think it’s a pretty good purchase,” says Dempsey. “I’m in the computer field so I did a lot of research on this laptop, and I think it’s a pretty good deal for the price.”
The store opened at 7 a.m., and nearly 250 people had already walked the store aisles by 11 a.m. Only 50 people returned or exchanged items Thursday.
The Macon Best Buy has changed its store hours to accommodate after Christmas shoppers. From now until Monday, the store will open at 7 a.m. and close at 11 p.m.
