Shooting victim’s family pleas for peace in Macon
Tavarous Veal’s family is heartbroken and still visibly shaken up after losing one of their own far too soon.
“I wouldn’t want to see my worse enemy have to go through this right here,” Trent Veal, Tavarous’ father, said.
Tavarous was shot and killed inside the Macon Gardens Apartments.
“You just don’t ever know until it’s your family. So we just want to stop the violence. We don’t want anymore violence,” Mamie Veal, Tavarous’ grandmother, said.
The 19-year-old’s family is asking anyone who knows something to come forward.
“Please y’all young people look what y’all are doing to each other, see how you all are tearing people’s families a part,” Demetrice Mathews, Tavarous’ aunt, said.
“It’s just senseless, we just need to stop it. It doesn’t matter what family they’re coming from. It just needs to stop,” Mamie said.
Bibb sheriff’s deputies are supporting the family and are still piecing together the case – hoping they find out who shot Tavarous.
“Look at these families that are affected, anybody who’s involved in these crimes. See how it affects the families and what they’re having to go through. Have some compassion.,” Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said.
“Please let people know where we can find these people so we can bring them to justice so what can be done can be done,” Mathews said.
Loved ones are hoping for justice and are pleading for those to stop the violence so no family has to grieve.
“Things like this hurt everyone, not just the immediate family. It hurts the community and it makes us look so bad as people,” Mathews said.
Investigators say the two shooting at the Macon Gardens apartment could be related. As of now they do not have any suspects in custody. If you have any information about this case, call crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
