Shooting Suspect Surrenders to Milledgeville Police, Investigation Continues

HortonQuintadious 05192013 201300017527MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Milledgeville police are following up leads and re-interviewing witnesses from Friday night’s shooting at the American Legion on Martin Luther King Dr.

According to Major Reggie Hill, 21-year-old Quintavious Horton turned himself in to authorities Sunday afternoon around 4:30. He had a gun shot wound to the leg and was treated at the hospital.

The shooting happened aroun 2 a.m. Jhill says the club was packed with people to see the rapper Lil-Ru. According to Hill, a fight and gunfire broke out in the parking lot. Hill tells 41NBC 22-year-old Kenneth Simmons was shot once in the chest with a semi-automatic handgun. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police found shell casings, bullets, a bag of marijuana, and blood on one of the parked cars.

“This investigation is far from over. We are currently working new leads everyday,” Hill said. “This is one of the highest crimes that can be committed and so you can expect for this just not to be an open and shut investigation.”

Hill says this is the city’s first homicide in two years. Horton is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a crime.

Hill calls this a tragic event and expresses his condolences to both the victim and the suspects’ families. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Milledgeville police’s tip line at (478) 414-4074.
