Sheriff Supports Houston County Deputy Involved in Friday Shooting

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Sheriff Cullen Talton says he fully supports the deputy who shot a man during a traffic stop.

Monday, Talton told 41NBC the deputy, Dean Holtzhouser is on paid administrative leave until a GBI investigation is over.

The GBI stepped in after the Friday afternoon shooting. According to GBI Special Agent in Charge, Rodney Wall, 27-year-old Daniel Boghosian of Warner Robins led officials on a 20 minute pursuit friday afternoon after he ran through a traffic stop.

Wall says then, Boghosian proceeded to ram into the deputies cars as they were exiting the vehicle. One of those deputies, Holtzhouser, fired three shots at Boghosian.

Sheriff Talton said Deputy Holtzhouser was upset about the shooting, but the sheriff maintains, he “did what he had to under these circumstances.”

Boghosian was listed in critical condition over the weekend. The Medical Center of Central Georgia told 41NBC Monday afternoon, Boghosian’s condition was listed as private.

Talton said he heard earlier today Boghosian was being moved into a regular room.
