Sheriff: Jones Bus Driver Not to Be Charged after Leaving Child on Bus for Hours
GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Jones County school bus driver who left a special needs child on the bus for 6 hours Tuesday will not be charged, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies interviewed everyone associated with the incident, and they found no criminal intent or reckless conduct on the bus driver’s part.
They have sent their findings to school officials for their consideration.
School officials say Tuesday the bus driver left the child alone on the bus after finishing her morning route. She parked the bus in her driveway, and the superintendent believes she did not thoroughly check the seats to make sure no children were still on the bus.
Superintendent William Mathews could not be reached for comment.
