Sex Offenders not allowed to celebrate Halloween

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Parole Division checked in on all of their paroled sex offenders to make sure they’re not participating in Halloween.

Assistant Chief Charles Arnold explained offenders can not have any decorations. They must also keep their lights off and stay inside their home until 8 o’clock tomorrow morning. They can only answer the door for law enforcement.

Arnold said even if an offender’s crime didn’t involve a child, they must still follow these rules.

“Being sex offenders, we want to be sure that they’re not running the risk of victimizing new folks. We want to be sure that they’re compliant with the conditions of their parole so they can remain out of prison and we’re not creating the potential for new victims,” explained Arnold.

In addition to the parole officers checking in on their parolees, Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies will be patrolling neighborhoods known to have a lot of trick or treaters.
