TWIGGS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Residents across Middle Georgia are cleaning up after storms moved through on Tuesday.

Heavy rain, downed trees and power lines and flooding leave behind widespread damage and power outages.

Antioch Baptist Church on Gordon Road in Twiggs County is one of the many buildings that sustained significant damage. A homeowner on Sgoda Road in Twiggs County had a tree fall on his house. No one was injured in either incident.

Spencer Hawkins with Macon-Bibb EMA advises residents to contact their insurance companies and hire licensed professionals to repair any damage caused by the storm.

“Contact your insurance company if you have an impact to your roof or something like that. Make sure you hire a licensed roofer to do the work to make sure that your house is safe and secure,” Hawkins said.

Thousands of people and businesses are still without power. You can check the outage map here.
