Several Local Schools Dismiss Early Due to Severe Storm Threat
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The following schools have announced they will dismiss students early, ahead of a severe weather threat for our area.
Stratford Academy: Upper School at 1:30pm; Middle School and Lower School will dismiss at 2:00pm.
Mt. De Sales Academy: Closing at 1:50pm. All after school activities including athletic practices and after school care are canceled for today.
St. Joseph’s Catholic School: Closing at 2pm.
Bibb County Schools are NOT dismissing early. But, the district’s Afterschool Programs have been canceled for Wednesday, January 30, due to the possibility of inclement weather.
Also, all Bibb County School District afterschool events, including tonight’s Winter Graduation Ceremony, and Athletics events and practices have been canceled due to the possibility of dangerous weather conditions. The Winter Graduation Ceremony will be rescheduled for another time.
District Afterschool Programs affected include those at:

• Brookdale Elementary School
• Burdell-Hunt Magnet School
• Hartley Elementary School
• Heritage Elementary School
• Ingram-Pye Elementary School
• Jones Elementary School
• Lane Elementary School
• Riley Elementary School
• Skyview Elementary School
• Springdale Elementary School
• Vineville Academy of the Arts
• Miller Middle School
Parents should arrange alternate transportation for their children if they are involved in Afterschool
Programs. For more information, parents should contact their child’s school.
Georgia College & State University: All evening classes from 5pm cancelled, including library at Milledgeville campus.
American Professional Institute: All evening classes at Eisenhower Pkwy. & Riverside Drive campuses cancelled.
Wilkinson County Schools: All evening and after-school programs and events cancelled.
Hancock County Schools: All evening and after-school prgrams and events cancelled.
Wesleyan College: All evening classes and events cancelled. Students living in dorms are encouraged to stay inside until storm passes. Classes will resume Thursday, Jan. 31.
