Seth Clark announces run for Georgia lieutenant governor
Seth Clark announced today that he is running for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Seth Clark, a former conservation nonprofit executive and current Macon Mayor Pro Tempore, announced today that he is running for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, pledging to lower the cost of living for working families and bring what he calls a compassion-driven approach to state government.
In a campaign video, Clark said his lifelong dedication to public service began after the death of his father, when communities along the Ocmulgee River helped his single mother — a minister — raise him and his siblings. He said those experiences shaped his belief that faith and service should go hand in hand.
Clark highlighted his career in public service, including two terms with AmeriCorps, where he helped establish a legal clinic for people experiencing homelessness in Atlanta. As a Democrat, he has also advocated for expanding access to technical schools and higher education.
As Mayor Pro Tempore in Macon, Clark said he focused on results over recognition. During his tenure, the county cut taxes for working families, invested in public safety, expanded affordable housing, rebuilt infrastructure and greenspace, and strengthened neighborhoods. He contrasted those accomplishments with what he described as the failed economic policies of former President Donald Trump and his allies in Atlanta, which he says continue to strain working Georgians.
Clark also announced he has resigned as Executive Director of the Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative, where he played a key role in placing thousands of acres into permanent conservation and advocating for federal legislation to create Georgia’s first national park.
Clark says his campaign will focus on lowering the cost of living, strengthening public schools, expanding access to affordable housing, child care, health care, and higher education, and reforming Georgia’s tax system to better support working- and middle-class families.
