Seniors Get Tips on How to Avoid Scams, Dangerous Situations at 8th Annual Event

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – For the eighth year, hundreds of middle Georgia senior citizens gathered at the Better Business Bureau’s Senior Expo.

The president of Central Georgia’s BBB, Kelvin Collins, says more than 300 seniors came out to Friday’s event at the Macon Coliseum.

The event teaches seniors how to protect themselves from scams and other dangerous situations.

Collins says you might be surprised to hear the number of seniors who report scams is just the tip of the iceberg.

“Most seniors don’t report it,” says Collins.  “The ones that do, that’s the statistics we have, so this is an opportunity for them to learn, for them to educate themselves and to protect themselves.”

Collins expects to keep having the event every year.
