Senator Isakson: The State of the Union is ‘fragile’

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Senator Johnny Isakson says he is disappointed the president is lowering expectations for the American middle class and business class.

He adds the president did not focus enough on trade during his speech.

“With the expansion of the Port of Savannah, with agriculture being our number one industry we export, trade is critical for us,” Isakson said. “The Transpacific partnership and the Transatlantic partnership Trade and Investment agreement are critical trade agreements to the state of Georgia and are critical trade agreements for the United States of America. I’m sorry he did not hit on those more.”

Isakson says the state of the union is “fragile.” He adds we’re challenged on all fronts, from a sluggish recovering economy to threats from Al Qaeda and threats in Europe.

Isakson tells 41NBC we must be committed to beating terror and rejuvenating the economy.
