Senator Chambliss Says 46 Senators Want to See Simpson-Bowles Fiscal Report Debated

WASHINGTON D.C. (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss say all it will take to prevent that dive off the fiscal cliff is a short term solution.

“To avoid the fiscal cliff and put something in place with a down payment maybe, and then a specific process going into next year to get into the details, and weeds of solving this problem-long-term,” says Chambliss.

Chambliss has a plan based on a report from the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform commonly known as the Bowles-Simpson Commission.

In 2010, President Obama created that bi-partisan group to help solve the nation’s fiscal challenges. They delivered a plan in December of that year, but Chambliss says the president put it on the shelf,
and forgot about it.
