MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — On the eve of election day, Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) reminded voters that the work is far from over.

“Let the word go forth that Georgia saved the country,” Warnock said. “And Georgia is fixing to do it again.”

Warnock pointed to he and President Joe Biden’s statewide victories in 2020 to motivate Macon Democrats at the Triangle Business Center. According to the Office of the Georgia Secretary of State, more than four million Georgians voted during the early voting period, a new record and a 48.9% increase in early voting from four years ago.

Warnock says the numbers are promising, but he encouraged supporters to knock on doors and phone bank until polling locations close on Tuesday night.

“This election will be decided tomorrow,” Warnock said. “It will be decided on the basis of who turns out and who does not tomorrow.”

Among the canvassers gathering to discuss their final plans to get out the vote was Solomon Levy. Levy says he decided to do more and volunteer the minute he learned that Vice President Kamala Harris was the presumptive Democratic nominee.

“She’s the most qualified person to ascend to the highest office in the United States,” Levy said.

Levy credited the Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee for the organization of its canvassing efforts, helping he and other volunteers speak directly to registered Democrats in all corners of the county. He said understanding how crucial Georgia will be in determining the outcome of the race is all the motivation he needs to keep working until the very end.

“We don’t want to go back, we want to go forward,” Levy said. “We want to support all citizens of the United States. And we have an opportunity to do that.”

Sen. Warnock echoed that message, telling voters not to lose sight of what he says is at stake in this year’s election.

“Vote like your lives actually depend on it, because they do,” Warnock said.
