Second Street Connector Plans Continue

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Plans to build a ‘pilot block’ and bridge as part of the Second Street corridor revitalization project have been approved.

Macon City Council passed the resolution to build the bridge that will connect Little Richard Penniman Boulevard and Second Street. It’s a key part of making the corridor a pedestrian-friendly path that would connect Gray Highway and Mercer University.

The urban design team CHA/Huntley partners will also build a ‘pilot block’ to display the improvements between Cherry and Poplar Streets.

In November 2011, voters approved to use $8 million from the Special Local Options Sales Tax to fund the project.
