Scoring Big: Warner Robins Forms Sports Council to Boost Tourism

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins City Council members are looking to build off the Little League economic boost by scoring bigger tournaments in the near future.

At Monday’s council meeting, officials discussed creating a separate sports authority, focusing on tourism and bringing additional sporting events to the area. Former athletes, community members and concerned citizens will be invited to sit on the council. The committee will work together to attract bowling tournaments, Iron Man competitions and more baseball to the city.

“We really want to go ahead and get the sports complex taken care of and get some dirt turned,” said Warner Robins City Council member Daron Lee, “and at the same time, we have people around who want to market what we’re doing,”
