Sci-Fi movie “The Fifth Wave” to be filmed in Macon
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The city Macon will soon be back on the big screen. Some downtown streets are scheduled to close for a few days next month for filming of the science-fiction movie “The Fifth Wave.” Portions of the movie will be filmed in areas around Cotton Avenue and Second Street.
The production company, Garden Films, is making the movie. Filming will is scheduled to be between January 2 and January 13. According to the county’s spokesperson, Chris Floore, the filming of “The Fifth Wave” will make a major economic impact in Macon.
“Based on the amount of time that they will be here, the hotel rooms that they will be renting the amount of monies spent on salaries for extras, catering, other services this could have anywhere from a $400,000 to $450,000 direct impact on our local economy,” says Floore.
Floore adds, Macon-Bibb officials have created an map on the county website to notify residents of the days and times various streets will be closed during filming.
