Sandersville Man Shot Dead at His Home

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Sandersville Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations are investigating after a Sandersville man was shot to death inside his home on Floyd Street.

It happened between 11pm and midnight Wednesday. GBI Investigator Todd Lowery tells 41NBC the victim is 54-year-old Sammie Lee Haynes. Sandersville Police Chief Victor Cuyler says there were multiple witnesses to the incident, but their accounts are not matching up. So far there have been no arrests made, but Cuyler says they do have a person of interest.

Cuyler says the doorbell rang late last night at Haynes home, and when he answered the door, a gunman shot him down.

Sandersville Police and the GBI are following leads and interviewing witnesses at this time.
