Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kick off at Mercer University Football game
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – While you are out shopping this holiday season you are likely to hear the ringing of Salvation Army’s Red Kettle bell.
The salvation army kicked off its kettle campaign Saturday, during a mercer university football home game.
Bell ringers are prepared to set up the kettles across Middle Georgia seeking donations. The Red Kettle campaign is its largest fundraiser of the year. The salvation army uses the funds for various emergencies, including responding to disasters, supporting shelters, and summer camps.
“We’re there 365 days a year. So, you know we’re available,” says Maj. Alan Hill. ” We want to do it and folk helps us to be able to provide that service. That’s why their donations are so important.”
Central Georgia Salvation Army serves Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Houston, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski and Twiggs counties.
