Salvation Army of Central Georgia asking for donations
The organization held its first ever benefit mixer Thursday at Market City Cafe in Macon. The goal was to raise money for the services it provides to the community, such as the emergency shelter and the Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Program.
The organization is trying to raise $100,000 by June. An anonymous donor gave $50,000 and promised to match every dollar up to $50,000.
Maj. Alan Hill, the Area Commander of the Salvation Army of Central Georgia, says he’s grateful for the community’s past support and is asking for donors to step up again to help the organization.
“They’ve really been behind us all the way, but right now we’re really in a crunch,” Hill said. “This is a real struggle time for us and those gifts would really make a difference at this time.”
The Salvation Army of Central Georgia serves Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Houston, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, and Twiggs counties.
