Rutland Hurricanes heading into 8th season under head coach George Collins

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Last season, the Rutland Hurricanes finished with a less than stellar record of 3-7. Head coach George Collins, heading into his 8th year, knows his team will need to be better to come out on top in a very tough region.

Despite the sub-par win/loss record, Coach Collins knows his players still competed and played hard. He’ll have five coming back for his offense which scored 18.2 points a game in 2014, including wide receivers Edwin Walton and LaDarion Womack.

The defense will likely need to improve in 2015 if the Hurricanes plan on finishing with a winning record, allowing nearly 30 points a game. Like the offense, the defense will also be returning five players, such as linebackers Anthony Whitehead and Jimel Dean.

It’ll be a tough region for Rutland to go through, with games against top-notch competitors like Westside and Peach County.

Rutland’s first game will be August 28th against Westside.
