MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers is a non-profit that helps promote caregivers’ health, strength, and resilience.
Lezlie Poole is the manager overseeing emergency preparedness for family caregivers and says that caregivers need extra resources, especially as natural disasters continue.
Poole says that family caregivers and the loved ones they serve are often overlooked in disaster relief efforts.
RCI has partnered with federal agencies, including FEMA and the VA, to put together comprehensive resources that allow family caregivers to manage challenges that extreme weather can bring.
Poole says it is important that caregivers have an emergency plan prepared and a disaster kit when natural disasters strike.
