Robins AFB making space for military aircraft ahead of Irma evacuation

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Robins Air Force Base is providing bed down support of aircraft, equipment and personnel for Hurricane Irma, it announced Wednesday.

According to a news release, Robins AFB is making space available for military and government agencies to park and lodge until the hurricane clears. As of Wednesday, Navy, Marine and Fema organizations requested to evacuate to Robins.

The base says it can house government and military personnel in buildings and dorm areas

 

Hurricane Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida on Sunday and make its way up the Eastern coast.
