Robbery suspect arrested during teddy bear exchange

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested after he allegedly stole a cell phone from a victim and broke his nose.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Alturo Batista was in the 100 block of Ward Street around 8:00 a.m. Friday when he was hit in the face and his phone was stolen.

Batista told deputies the suspect was named Sean Parker Stephens.

Deputies called the number of the stolen phone, Stephens answered and admitted he stole the phone. Deputies offered a Saint Peter Claver Church teddy bear in exchange of the phone, the suspect agreed.

Deputies met with Stephens on Vineville Avenue. He was arrested and charged with robbery and aggravated battery. He was taken to the Bibb County jail and has a $6750 bond.

Batista was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
