River Edge to open Adult Peer Support and Community Integration Center in Macon
River Edge Behavioral Health is expanding services in Middle Georgia with the opening of a new Adult Peer Support and Community Integration Center
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The center is designed to support adults living with behavioral health challenges and intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The center, located on Ingleside Avenue, brings together peer support, wellness programming and daily life-skills training in one facility. Leaders with River Edge say the goal is to create a space that helps individuals build independence, connect with others and maintain long-term stability.
The facility includes a teaching kitchen for nutrition education and independent living skills, a full gymnasium for physical health and therapeutic recreation, and an arts and crafts studio focused on creative expression and cognitive development. Private and group peer support suites will allow certified peer specialists to work directly with participants using shared lived experiences.
The center also offers in-facility programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including structured day services, skill development and mobility training.
River Edge officials say bringing multiple services under one roof helps reduce barriers to care while strengthening support networks across the region.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the facility are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at 2016 Ingleside Ave. Parking will be available at the Bibb County School District complex, with shuttle service provided.
River Edge Behavioral Health provides mental health, addiction and developmental disability services to individuals and families across multiple counties in Georgia, including Macon-Bibb.
