River Edge Behavioral Health tops off new facility
The new facility was a collaboration among River Edge, the Mercer University School of Medicine, and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health. It is expected to open in March 2025.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – River Edge Behavioral Health hosted a topping-off ceremony for its new facility on Friday.
The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Crisis Services and Diagnostic Center, located at 1241 Rev. J.L. Mills Senior Way in Macon, is the first in the state.
Greta O’Dell, the developmental services director for River Edge Behavioral Health, is excited about what the facility will offer for those with disabilities.
“Many times individuals with an intellectual and developmental disability can’t tell us what’s going on with them medically,” O’Dell said. “So this will give us an opportunity to really get full medical workups to make sure that we’re meeting all of the individuals’ needs and not just treating the symptoms.”
The new facility is just one in a series of planned expansions. It was a collaboration among River Edge, the Mercer University School of Medicine and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health.
The clinic is expected to open in March 2025.
