Richard Petty Racing into Byron for Middle Georgia Racers Reunion
BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The king of NASCAR is racing into Byron as part of the third annual Middle Georgia Racers Reunion festival.
Organizers announced the event on Monday at Jeff Smith Chevrolet. Middle Georgia Raceway owner Tim Thornton says Richard Petty will be the Grand Marshall of the festival. Fans will get the chance to meet the king, get an autograph and pictures.
It will be a fun day for the family filled with food, a moonshine still, monster truck and helicopter rides, and of course, som really cool cars.
“We’ll probably have a couple dozen vintage race cars as well as over 100 antique and classic show cars, everything from muscle cars to true antiques,” Thornton said.
Portions of the money raised are going to Richard Petty’s foundation, Victory Junction.
The festival is Saturday, August 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Middle Georgia Raceway on Highway 41 in Byron. Admission is $10. Kids 10 and under are free.
