Rev. Sharpton Talks Elections, Georgia Ballots In Macon
MACON, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – Civil rights activist and talk show host Rev. Al Sharpton made a visit to Macon, Thursday afternoon.
Sharpton was the keynote speaker at the National Action Network Southeastern Regional Conference. The luncheon was held at New Life International on Vineville Avenue.
Sharpton covered several topics, from taking care of our community to the upcoming midterm elections. He also touched on the issue of Georgia holding up absentee ballots due to addresses and signature discrepancies.
“This not about a partisan election,” said Sharpton. “This is about fairness in the democratic process. People fought for the right to vote, and people fought for fair elections.”
Sharpton is the founder and president of the National Action Network. The civil rights organization was created in 1991.
