Restaurant Report Card: Turner’s

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – “If you want them soft we’ll cook ’em soft, if you want them crispy we’ll cook them crispy,” said Turner’s owner Sarah Turner.

How ever you want your wings at Turner’s on West Crusselle Street in Roberta, you’ll get them.

“They put a lot of heart and soul into the food when they’re making it,” said customer Keith Nelson.

The Turner family likes to make sure you leave stuffed.

“We’ve always been tight with our kids, and all of them has (sic) worked with us at one time or another,” said Turner.

But first, here’s a restaurant that needs to step it up this week.

McDonald’s at 3660 Riverside Drive in Macon scored a 79.

They had guacamole thawing in the hand sink, there were multiple flies hanging around the food preparation area, and some of the toppings at the create-your-own station were out of date.

Other scores this week:

Big Chic on Duggar St in Roberta – 100

Camp Grace Cafe on Walker’s Chapel Road – 94

Crawford County Eagle’s Nest on E. Crusselle St – 91

Hudson’s BBQ on E Agency Street – 99

Subway on E. Crusselle St. – 91

Margarita’s Mexican Bar and Grill on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins – 91

Nu-way Weiners on Russell Parkway – 95

20’s Pub and Sub on Riverside Drive in Macon – 89

The Bears Den on Oglethorpe Street – 91

Sakura on Shurling Drive – 94

Fresh Air Barbecue on Riverside Drive – 90

Good scores this week.

“We’re in the south, everybody loves wings, everybody loves chicken, and it’s football season too,” said Turner.

Turner’s knows its customers love wings and everything else too.

“I go all the way to Atlanta just for this lemon pepper,” said Turner.

“What I just had is the hot special today was fried chicken and corn bread and fried squash,” said Nelson.

The Turners cook to order when it comes to staying clean too.

“I don’t like eating places that fail health inspections,” said Nelson. “That pretty much tells me to stay away from them.”

You don’t have to worry about that at Turner’s.

“I wouldn’t want to eat at a dirty restaurant, and you clean up at home and you clean up here,” said Turner. “Everybody wants it done hot fresh and clean and done right.”

Turner’s is making the grade this week.
