Restaurant Report Card: Texas Border Grill
“We wanted to diversify with a border menu,” said Texas Border Grill owner Mark Coley. “We have several southwestern items. We’ve gone with a lot of poultry and seafood items.”
But before we check it out, here’s a restaurant that needs to step it up this week.
Lucy’s on Carroll Street in Perry scored a 75.
The temperatures for some of the food items were either too hot or cold, an employee was drinking out of an open Pepsi can at a food prep table, and an employee wasn’t wearing something to hold his or her hair in place.
Other scores this week:
Johnny V’s on Columbus Road in Macon – 91
Cornerstone Pub on S. Houston Lake Road – 92
Fincher’s Barbecue and Catering on N. Davis Drive – 86
Mike’s Hotdogs and Hamburgers on Russell Parkway – 100
Momma Goldberg’s Deli on Watson Boulevard – 84
Rise N Shine Restaurant on Highway 96 – 90
Rusty’s on Carroll Street – 91
Sharks Fish & Chicken on Watson – 84
Skipper John’s on Macon Road – 100
The Perfect Pear on Carroll Street – 96
Wok N Roll on Highway 96 – 97
And Yummy Express on Sam Nunn Boulevard – 100
So some good scores this week.
And Texas Border Grill, which used to be Texas Cattle Company, has a menu that expanded with the name change.
We featured Texas Border Grill on Restaurant Report Card a few weeks ago when they needed to step it up.
And they sure did.
“We were very disappointed, but I have to say everyone involved in the restaurant was involved in getting it back to where we should be,” said Coley.
The expectation is the 100 hanging on the wall.
“Our big thing has been that people are comfortable coming through the restaurant,” said Coley. “They know they’re eating in a safe environment.”
So cross over the border for a meal or two–Texas Border Grill is making the grade this week.
