Restaurant Report Card: Sauced Pizza

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s easy to see why you’d come back on a regular basis to Sauced at 1635 Montpelier Avenue in Mercer Village.

“Just trying to put a new spin on an old classic,” said owner Andrew Collier.

They’re doing that with sauce, sauce and more sauce.

It makes sense with that name.

“We get a lot of people from downtown at lunch,” said Collier.

The location helps Sauced–Mercer Village is usually hopping.

“So we get a good group of everybody over here, you know which we try to do,” said Collier.

And the customers enjoy the atmosphere.

“The exposed brick and everything we don’t put a lot of art on the walls here because the walls are kind of the art. It has that old pizza place vibe to me you know,” said Collier.

The old pizza place makes new and fresh pizza.

“We make our own dough, we make our own sauce everyday–we have a bunch of sauces, but we also have a bunch of bases for our pizzas (at Sauced).”

The perfect health inspection score tastes just as good.

“Having the hundred is great and obviously we set a goal and we stick with it and get it every time,” said Collier.

The pizza’s good every time at Sauced.

You can grab a slice of pepperoni and pineapple or just about any other type of pizza you can think of.

Here’s a couple of restaurants that need to step it up: Locos Deli and Pub on Riverside Drive scored a 73.

Multiple employees needed a beard guard, there was buildup on the ice machine, and the cold holding temperature for multiple foods was too hot.

Church’s Chicken on Georgia Avenue scored a 69.

There was no designated person in charge after the manager left, they had no paper towels in the restroom, and the ice scoop had pink buildup on it.
