Restaurant Report Card: Main Street Grill

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – “Normally, if we want a sit down restaurant we would have to drive to Perry,” said customer Wykia Willis.

Don’t go skipping town just yet.

“It feels great to be able to come and sit down and just enjoy a nice family atmosphere–and the food is good,” said Willis.

Main Street Grill wants you sit down and stay in Fort Valley.

But first, here’s a couple of restaurants that need to step it up this week.

Alt Deli and Sushi on Zebulon Road scored a 62.

It had an expired Certified Food Safety Manager certificate, an employee drank something without a lid, and the hand wash sink had utensils in it.

Kum O Restaurant on Hawkinsville Road scored a 58.

The person in charge lacked knowledge about the food safety rules, they had cutting boards in the hand washing sink, and raw pork juice had leaked on bean sprouts in the walk in cooler.

Other scores this week:

Genji Japanese Steak and Seafood on Watson Boulevard – 90

Ichiban Hibachi Buffet on Sam Nunn Boulevard – 82

Jalisco Grill on St. Patrick Dr. – 87

Oil Lamp Restaurant on General Courtney Hodges Boulevard – 99

Snellgrove Seafood Restaurant on N. Houston Lake Boulevard – 100

El Sombrero on North Avenue – 97

Greek Corner Deli on Cherry Street – 86

Hong Kong Express on North Avenue – 83

J and F Caribbean Delight on N. Atwood Drive – 96

Kona Ice on Sweet Bay Road – 100

Great scores this week.

“Especially the students at first can have somewhere to sit down, hang out, karaoke,” said manager Keyon Dodson.

Fort Valley State isn’t far from Main Street Grill.

“Just have fun…it’s very important for us,” said Dodson.

The locals enjoy it too.

“A lot of people from the university come a lot of people from Bluebird, a lot of people from the surrounding counties,” said Dodson. “Our community for our locals, every other place here is either a fast food joint…somewhere you really can’t sit down, hang out, so that’s what we’re really offering to the community,”

You’re bound to find something you like on the menu.

“Our Angus burger, very popular, hot wings, very popular,” said Dodson. “We offer a wide variety of appetizers so it’s something that everybody can appreciate.”

Plus, the health inspection sits proudly on the wall.

“It’s just like eating food at your own home, I mean you want cleanliness.”

“A hundred on the health inspection, you really can’t beat that, I think that lets our clients know that we’re here to serve them and we’re ready,” said Dodson.

Main Street Grill is ready to make the grade this week.
