Restaurant Report Card: Lemongrass
You usually don’t see it, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pass it by.
“When you go to most cities, you’re gonna find little places like Lemongrass. They’re tight, but they’re special,” said Schechterle.
It fits right in.
“You’re not going to find the type of environment here, where you can listen to music, go to a play, have a great meal,” said Schechterle.
But stands out in it’s own way.
A great meal’s heading our way at Lemongrass, but first, here’s a couple of restaurants that need to step it up this week.
Salads 2 Go on N. Millerfield Road scored a 67.
The person in charge didn’t demonstrate they knew about the violations, employees had no paper towels in the sink, and the soup wasn’t hot enough.
Bearfoot Tavern on Cherry Street scored a 72.
There was no soap at the employee hand sink, the knives hanging on the wall were dirty, and pink mold like build up was on the ice chute.
Other scores this week:
Doughboy Pizza on Cherry Street – 95
Francar’s on Linden Avenue – 100
Marco’s Pizza on Zebulon Road – 96
Roasted Cafe and Lounge on Second Street – 95
Sauced at Mercer Village on Montpelier Avenue – 90
American Deli on Watson Boulevard – 88
Anna’s Asian Cafe on Highway 96 – 87
Casa Mexico II on Highway 96 – 89
China Buffet on Russell Parkway – 99
Hibachi Buffet on Watson Boulevard – 99
Ichiban Hibachi Buffet on Sam Nunn Boulevard – 98
McCall’s Tastes To Remember on Watson Boulevard – 100
My Father’s Place on Moody Road – 96
Great scores this week.
“We’re real proud of our drink list plus the food,” said Schechterle. “Our chef, Tom, he’s world class.”
And what’s not to be proud of at Lemongrass?
The customers love it.
Plus, Schechterle is perfectly clear about his health inspection score
“We are a very small place, you can look through the window, you can see the whole restaurant,” said Schechterle. “I mean, our thing is, if it’s bright enough you can see it, if it’s too dark to see it, it’s probably dirty.”
Lemongrass is making the grade this week.
