Restaurant Report Card: Greek Village Restaurant

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Every time you turn around, you get something different at Greek Village.

“It’s definitely not the run-of-the-mill burger, fries, Mexican place. Like you said, just something different,” said customer Sekou Banner.

“How good the food is, how fresh it is, and how not that expensive it is for the portion and the good food that is here,” said owner Adriana Ivanus.

But first, a look at a couple of restaurants that need to step it up this week.

Texas Cattle Company on Houston Road scored a 61.

The person in charge didn’t demonstrate knowledge of health regulations, the drink machine chute had heavy brown build up, and the kitchen was just generally not clean, according to the health inspector.

Dairy Queen Orange Julius on 5080 Riverside Drive in The Shoppes At River Crossing scored a 71.

There was a mold-like substance on the frozen cheese cake bites, there was a mold-like buildup on the ice machine, and they had cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, ham and turkey that had all expired a month ago.

China Garden on Mall Road in Dublin scored a 73.

They had cooked fish under raw shrimp in the refrigerator, the egg rolls uncovered in freezer in back section, and some of the fish and seafood in buffet weren’t hot enough.

Other scores this week:

CC Fish House on Chambers Road in Macon – 89

Griffin’s Right on Q on Mercer University – 80

King’s Deli House on Bloomfield – 90

L & W Sports Center on Pio Nono – 91

Nu-way Weiners on Hillcrest Boulevard – 88

Shark’s Fish and Chicken Chicago Style on Mercer University – 97

Bare Bulb Coffee on Highway 96 in Kathleen – 84

Metropolis Grill on Highway 96 – 100

Paula’s Fried Chicken on MLK Boulevard in Dublin – 85

When it comes to Greek food, Greek Village Restaurant could feed an entire village

“I have Greek, I have Italian food, even Mexican food–Quesadilla, it’s very good. Cheeseburgers, burgers, all kind of burgers here,” said Ivanus.

And they can do it well.

You can’t qualify for Restaurant Report Card without that elusive 100 on the wall, and Greek Village doesn’t disappoint.

“So very important, you don’t wanna go somewhere and actually think you’re going to get sick from eating the food,” said Banner. “You wanna be comfortable.”

“I’m here everyday and the chefs in the back everyday,” said Ivanus. “And we watch everything–we do ourselves. We don’t have anybody to say hey, you cover this, you cover that, you put the date, you update everything, no we do it ourselves, which that means a lot.”

Greek Village Restaurant is making the grade this week.
