Restaurant Report Card: Fox’s Pizza Den

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – “It’s pretty cool too, I’ve met so many cool people just coming through here you know people I would have never gotten to meet,” said Fox’s Pizza Den employee Jo Waller.

The customers at Fox’s Pizza Den in Sandersville are a wide ranging bunch.

“You know hey how’s your day going. They can tell me you know what they do, where they work,” said Waller.

But they all agree on one thing: the food is great.

“Right here is the manager’s special really good–got a mix of meat and vegetables,” said Waller. “As far as pizza, my favorite–chicken bacon ranch, just a beautiful combination.”

I hung out with the employees at Fox’s Pizza Den at 147 E. Church St. and they take real pride in their food.

“We have a lot more than just pizza, we have burgers we do pimento cheese, we do chicken salad we have sandwiches, we have almost everything you could imagine we have pasta we have salad,” said Waller.

The perfect health inspection comes because of a lot of hard work.

“I know when I go to another restaurant that’s what I’m going to look at, you know what did this restaurant make? So I know when people come in, that’s what they do with us too,” said Waller. “And that’s going to change whether they eat here or not. It’s a big thing.”

Here’s a couple of restaurants that need to step it up this week.

China Max on Eisenhower Parkway scored a 71.

The hand sink was blocked by sauce packets so employees couldn’t use it, there was a slimy black mold-like substance on the ice machine, and there were roaches crawling on the walls in the back part of the kitchen.

Margarita’s Mexican Grill on Highway 96 scored a 73.

The Certified Food Safety Manager’s certificate wasn’t posted, the raw steak in the cooler wasn’t cold enough for storage, and an employee had a bracelet on while cooking.
