Restaurant Report Card: El Tequila

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – “We see a lot of people because of the college, you know,” said employee Letty Short.

El Tequila has all the food and drinks you could want

“Dollar tacos, dollar beer…so they will be here,” said Short.

if you’re a college student at GCSU.

Whether it’s Monday dollar taco night and you’re a student, or just someone wanting a good meal, you’re in the right place.

But first, here’s a couple of restaurants that need to step it up this week.

Moon’s Wings on Gray Highway scored a 73.

They had build up on the ice machine, some ranch dressing was sitting out not refrigerated, and raw beef was stored above mushrooms.

JLD Wings and Pub scored a 55.

They had raw hamburgers stored over sauces, the bowls they use to sauce the wings hadn’t been cleaned since at least the night before and were full of sauce, and the ceiling tiles in the dining area were water stained.

Other scores this week:

Alt Deli and Sushi on Zebulon Road – 80

American Wings and Deli on Pio Nono Avenue – 80

Which Wich on Forsyth St. – 93

Harpin’s on Brookdale Avenue – 96

Hong Kong Express on Pio Nono Avenue – 80

Margarita’s Mexican Grill on Bowman Road – 90

Papa’s Wings and Deli on Pio Nono Avenue – 93

Philly Steak Company on Houston Avenue – 100

Teriyaki House on Riverside Drive – 80

The Back Burner Restaurant on Ingleside Avenue – 90

Good scores this week.

“You get to meet them you get to form a friendship with them and they stay here four years and then I cry when they leave here,” said Short. “They call me Mama Letty.”

The college students can find their family here, and so can you.

“We’re friendly because we care about the people and what they want,” said Short.

And if you want good food, then you’ll enjoy your stay.

“The way they cook it, you know, authentic, you know with a different variety of spices,” said Short.

“The food’s really good. I enjoy eating here,” said customer William Autry. “They have a great lunch special.”

And of course that health inspection on the wall is friendly on the eyes.

“Why do you think it’s important for other customers, I mean you don’t want to get sick right? No! Lord no! Been there done that,” said Autry.

“Clean for my customers and for me to come back. Me? I’m clean freak, so it has to be perfect,” said Short.

El Tequlia is making the grade this week.
