Restaurant Report Card: El Camino
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – “It’s not upscale, but it’s not your daddy’s taco joint either,” said El Camino owner Chad Evans.
Evans is looking for a nice mix that’s got a taste of the big city as well.
“This is sort of a modern, chef-driven, street taco vibe,” said Evans. “It’s been popular in LA, Chicago, New York.”
Evans wants El Camino to give you an experience.
“It’s going to be corn or flour soft shells,” said Evans. “The proteins here–carnitas, pork, braised short rib with anbeaver pepper with a couple of the tacos. It’s exciting use of American spice.”
It’s great now, and will definitely be great later.
“I expect the future of this is going to be lots of discovery in what we can do with the taco.”
Plus that perfect health inspection tastes just as good.
“To be noticed that you’re doing things correctly in the back where people can’t see it means a lot,” said Evans. “So you know that’s something we start the day trying to get right even though we know everybody’s not going to see what we’re doing.”
El Camino is making the grade this week.
