Republican Governor Candidate Rick Jackson Makes Final Georgia Tour Before Runoff
The self-described outsider candidate is campaigning on job creation, lower taxes, and a pro-law enforcement platform ahead of Tuesday's runoff election.
Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson is making a final tour of Georgia ahead of this week’s runoff elections, positioning himself as the anti-establishment choice for voters.
Jackson has said he wants to continue Gov. Brian Kemp’s current approach to governing while pushing further to create more jobs and lower both income and property taxes for Georgians.
At a meet-and-greet, Jackson spoke about his policy position on law enforcement and what he would bring to Georgia schools.
“If you can show me a video of a time where somebody obeyed the police, and respected the police and ever got shot — it will not happen. I’m gonna teach it in Georgia schools. We need to respect our police and honor them because they’re great people,” Jackson said.
Jackson has also recently picked up endorsements from several prominent Republican figures, including Sen. Ted Cruz, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, and, as of Monday, Donald Trump Jr.
