Rep. James Beverly named new Georgia House Minority Leader

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Democrats select a Macon representative as the new Georgia State House of Representatives Minority Leader.

During a meeting Tuesday, they selected Representative James Beverly. This comes after the party’s former leader, Democrat Bob Trammell, was defeated last week by a Republican in the general election.

Beverly beat out representative William Boddie of East Point in the race for party leader.

Beverly was elected last week to his sixth term in the House. He represents Georgia’s 143rd District which covers Macon.
