Reichert Wants Change Up In City’s Budgeting Process

Macon Mayor Robert Reichert says he wants the city to work smarter, not harder in the budgeting process.

The mayor and CAO Dale Walker were joined by Albany’s Budget Officer, Larry Johnson, to discuss changing how the city restrains spending by line items.

Right now, if a department head goes over budget in a line item they are subject to a $500 fine. Mayor Reichert says because of the rule, the city is swamped with paper work that costs workers valuable time.
