Record rainfall continues today, drying out this weekend

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The last day of 2015 is a wet one, but 2016 brings much improved weather! A stalled cold front continues to provide rain to our area, boosting our already record numbers.

While there’s a slight chance of a storm in your neighborhood, most of the precipitation will be simple rainfall. Unfortunately, that means river levels won’t recede to below flood stage, and the places that are currently closed, like the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, will likely remain closed for the time being.

However, all this rain is currently due to a stalled cold front that will finally move south today. Unfortunately, the rain will still be around through parts of the overnight hours, so some of you will receive rain at midnight. But tomorrow despite the clouds, the rain will be gone. By Saturday, we’ll see much more sun than we’ve seen this week.

And the temperatures? Highs of 50s and lows of 30s this weekend. Winter arrives!
