Rebuilding Macon Holds Auction to Benefit Low Income and Disabled Homeowners

City leaders and residents auctioned off different items to raise money for low income and disabled homeowners as part of the “Rebuilding Macon” initiative.

A flash mob from Theatre Macon got the festivities started by chanting “We can build a beautiful city!” A band rocked Butler Toyota in North Macon as the folks who attended celebrated the promise of a better city. Organizers say despite tough economic times, it’s important people still remember how to give.

“Its been a tough time for the economy so giving is not as high as it usually is,” says Rebuilding Macon development director Renita Patterson, “but macon is very generous.  So we’re just happy for whatever donations–whatever contributions we can get.”
